Here is 5 reasons why Canada is such a great destination for new immigrants:

STRONG AND STABLE ECONOMY

Canada’s economy has 10th place in the ranking of the largest economies  in the world despite relatively small population.  There are three main industries in Canada : service industry, manufacturing and natural resources. According to Statistics Canada more than 75% working Canadians have jobs in service industries.  That includes jobs in areas like tourism, education, banking , transportation, construction, health care, retails services, banking  and many more.

Canada’s manufacturing industry focus mainly on production of paper, machinery, food, aerospace technology and other goods. The largest trading partner is United States. Natural resources have very important role in Canada’s  economy. The development  of many areas in the country depends on stable trade of natural resource commodities. Canada is very proud to have  low unemployment rate and a lot of job opportunities.

EXCELLENT EDUCATION SYSTEM

Canada’s education system has world class reputation and spends more on education per person than any other industrialized nation. The country is home to some of the top universities, namely the University of Toronto, the University of British Columbia  and the University of Alberta.  Most of universities in Canada focus on research and students are engaged in such projects. Some examples where students were involved in discoveries are a device to improve cancer detection, effective treatment for HIV/AIDS and more.

Interesting fact is that insulin was discovered in Canada by Dr. Frederick Banting and Dr. Charles Best and that saved more than 16 million lives. Some of the reasons why the education system in Canada is considered quite successful are the career-focused programs developed to fit job market needs and that approach almost guarantee graduates high employability rate. Canada education system structure truly helps to achieve what you planned for future successful career.

ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE AND SOCIAL SERVICES

Under Canada’s universal healthcare system, every province or territory provides all residents with reasonable access to medical services such as hospital visits or access to doctors. Reliable healthcare programs available to everyone in the country ranks Canada’s quality of care significantly higher comparing for example to United States. As a result Canada has one of the highest life expectancy rates of 82 years.

The Canadian government recognize the difficulty for newcomers to adapt to a new country, to learn new cultures and languages.  There is a lot of cooperation between Government of Canada, Provincial Governments and community organizations to provide assistance in language training, finding employment, education, finding a place to live and much more. The Government of Canada invests millions of dollars every year to help newcomers settle into their new lives in Canada.

DIVERSE AND MULTICULTURAL ENVIRONMENT

Canada is recognized as one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse countries in the world. More than 50% of the population is not speaking English as their first language. Canada always promoted multiculturalism and it is a key part of the Canadian identity.  In 2019 Canada welcomed  313 580 immigrants, more than a half were skilled workers. Canada is known for its respectful approach to multiculturalism.

People from different parts of the world live in harmony and maintain their cultural heritage and religious practices.  Furthermore, Canada is regularly ranked as the safest nation in the world considering factors like crime rates, diplomatic relations and political stability.

“Canadians come from every corner of the world, speak two official languages and hundreds more, practice many faiths, and represent many cultures. Multiculturalism is at the heart of Canada’s heritage and identity – and as Canadians, we recognize that our differences make us strong.”
